Re-Energisation Services

Power Disconnected by SA Power Networks (SAPN)? We Can Help.

If your property's power has been cut off by SA Power Networks (SAPN) due to unsafe wiring, an outdated switchboard, or non-compliant electrical work — Switch Electrical can get you safely reconnected.

We offer fast, compliant, and hassle-free re-energisation services across Adelaide for both residential and rental properties.

What’s Involved?

When SAPN disconnects the power, it’s usually due to one of the following:

  • Old or unsafe fuse boxes

  • No safety switches (RCDs) installed

  • Non-compliant or deteriorated wiring

  • Missing or inadequate earthing/bonding

  • Hazardous conditions reported during a meter upgrade or fault call-out

We assess, repair, and upgrade your electrical installation to meet current safety standards.

Our Re-Energisation Service Includes:

  • Urgent site attendance to assess the issue

  • Fault finding to identify unsafe conditions

  • Repairs or upgrades to the switchboard and wiring

  • Installation of safety switches, new main earth, and bonding if required

  • Full compliance with AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules

  • Issuing an eCoC (Electrical Certificate of Compliance)

  • Lodging a Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES) with SAPN

  • Liaising with your energy retailer and SAPN to coordinate re-energisation

  • Optional switchboard replacement, if required for long-term safety

We handle the paperwork, the compliance, and the coordination — so you’re not left in the dark.

Fast Turnaround

We know power outages are urgent. That’s why we prioritise re-energisation jobs and aim for same or next-day service, depending on SAPN scheduling.

Common Scenarios We Handle:

  • SAPN has tagged your fuse board as unsafe

  • Your power has been disconnected after a meter upgrade attempt

  • Your rental property fails an electrical inspection

  • You need to get power back before tenants move in

Need the Power Back On Fast?

Give us a call or send an enquiry — we’ll sort the electrical issues, coordinate with SAPN, and get your property safely reconnected without the stress.

    1. Inspect & Diagnose

      • Visit the site ASAP to determine why SAPN disconnected supply.

      • Note SAPN’s “tag” details (disconnection reason, tag number).

    2. Carry Out Repairs/Upgrades

      • Replace/upgrade switchboard, install RCDs (Type A with DC detection), earthing/bonding as needed.

      • Ensure all work follows AS/NZS 3000.

    3. Complete the eCoC

      • Fill in client and site details (name, address, meter number).

      • Describe scope: “Re-energisation after SAPN disconnection due to [reason].”

      • List all safety devices installed (RCDs, safety switch ratings).

      • Record test results (insulation resistance, earth continuity, polarity check).

      • Add your licence number, registration expiry, and date of completion.

      • Sign and date the form.

    4. Lodge the CES with SAPN

      • Submit the eCoC (sometimes called CES) via the SAPN portal or email to your electricity retailer.

      • Obtain a “Job Request Number” or “Re-energisation Approval” reference.

    5. Notify the Retailer

      • Send a copy of the lodged eCoC/CES and approval reference to the customer’s retailer so they can authorise reconnection.

    6. Confirm with SAPN

      • Follow up with SAPN (or your distributor contact) to ensure they have received your documentation and to lock in a reconnection date/time.

    7. Re-Energise & Handover

      • Once authorised, SAPN will reconnect the meter.

      • Perform a final inspection, hand over compliance documentation, and explain any new safety devices to the customer.
