Privacy policy
Plain English. What we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it and how to change it. Last updated 30 October 2026.
Who we are
Switch Electrical Co, a licensed electrical contractor in Adelaide, South Australia (licence PGE 360670). This policy covers the website, the booking and quote pages at book.switchelectrical.au, and the texts, emails and calls we exchange with you about a job. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
- Your name, mobile number and email address
- The address of the job, and access notes you give us (gate codes, where the key is, the dog's name)
- Photos you send us of the job, and photos we take of the work before and after
- What you asked for, what we quoted, what we did and what you paid
- For rental properties, the agency's details and the tenant's name and mobile, as given to us on the work order
- If you arrived from an online ad, the ad reference the browser passes along, so we know the ad worked
We don't collect card numbers. Card payments go straight to our payment provider and we only see that the invoice was paid.
Why we collect it
To quote the job, book it, text you the arrival window and the on-our-way message, turn up at the right address, do the work, invoice you and take payment. Photos go on the job record and, for rental work, on the invoice to the agency. Where the work needs a certificate of compliance, the address and the work done are lodged with the regulator because the law requires it. We also keep the job record so we can answer questions about it later.
Who we share it with
- Our licensed plumbing partner, for gas disconnection on a conversion: your name, address, mobile and the booking time
- The Office of the Technical Regulator, on every certificate of compliance: the address and the work done
- Our payment provider, to take card payments, and our bank for transfers and PayID
- The SMS and email providers that carry our texts and emails to you
- The property manager or agency, when they sent the work order: the job details, photos and invoice
- Our accountant, for the books, and anyone the law requires us to give it to
That's the list. We don't sell your details, swap them, or hand them to marketers. We sometimes text past customers about our own services, never anyone else's. Every one of those texts has a way to say stop, and stop is honoured. Booking, invoice and certificate texts still arrive, because the job needs them.
How long we keep it
Job records, invoices and certificates are kept for at least seven years because tax and licensing rules require it. Photos stay with the job record. Access notes like gate codes are only kept as long as the job is open.
Where it lives
On our own job system, hosted on a server we control, backed up daily, with access limited to the three of us. Texts and emails also sit with the providers that carry them.
Seeing or correcting it
Text us on 0411 864 098 or email switchelectrical.co@gmail.com and tell us what you want to see or change. A wrong phone number or address is fixed on the spot. If you want a job record deleted, we'll do it unless the law says we have to keep it, in which case we'll tell you what has to stay and why.
Complaints
Text or email us first and we'll sort it. If you're not happy with the answer, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
This website
The pages on this site are static and the font is served from here. They load one thing from Google: the Google Ads tag, which tells us an ad led to a booking. If you arrived from an ad, the ad reference is kept in a cookie for 90 days and passed on to the booking page, so the booking can be matched to the ad. The booking and quote pages at book.switchelectrical.au keep what you type so your quote builds as you go, and record the ad reference mentioned above when there is one. Those pages also load two things from Google: the same Google Ads tag, and Google Maps address autocomplete, which fills in the job address as you type. Both are covered by Google's privacy policy. There is no tracking across other sites.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. The current version is always the one here.
